Damascus, July 14 (SANA) – Syrian Finance Minister, Mohammad Yisr Barnieh, said on Tuesday that Syria marks the beginning of “a new chapter of partnership” with the industrial sector, stressing that the Finance ministry’s objective is not merely to collect revenue but to support production and build greater trust with the private sector.
Speaking at a dialogue panel with industrialists, the Finance Minister said that the country’s proposed tax reform laws were drafted in partnership with representatives of the industrial and commercial sectors, describing the reforms as part of broader efforts to simplify procedures, reduce tax rates and strengthen fairness and competitiveness.
He added that the government’s tax reform program extends beyond legislative changes to include modernizing tax administration, improving relations with taxpayers and accelerating digital transformation to deliver more efficient public services.
Bernieh added that tax revenues are being directed toward financing infrastructure projects, including roads, hospitals and schools, saying such investments would contribute directly to improving public services and supporting Syria’s economic development.
