Damascus, June.26 (SANA) Syrian and Emirati officials discussed plans to establish a logistics corridor linking Syrian ports with Gulf markets through Iraq, as part of efforts to strengthen regional trade and transport connectivity.

Qutaiba Badawi, Chairman of Syria’s General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, met a high-level delegation that included UAE Chargé d’Affaires Abdul Hakeem al-Nuaimi and Mohammed Al Menhali, Regional Chief Executive Officer of AD Ports Group.

Officials discussed a proposed transport route connecting Syrian ports with Iraq’s Port of Umm Qasr before extending to Khalifa Port in the United Arab Emirates. The project aims to reduce shipping times and transportation costs while improving regional supply chains.

The talks also covered investment opportunities in Syria’s ports, free zones and inland dry ports, including a proposed logistics hub at the al-Tanf border crossing.

Both sides said they would continue coordinating on logistics, maritime transport and infrastructure projects supporting bilateral economic cooperation.
