Damascus, June 20 (SANA) Syrian and Turkish officials and business representatives discussed ways to strengthen agricultural, trade and investment cooperation during talks held on Saturday in Damascus.
The meeting, at the Damascus and Damascus Countryside Agriculture Chamber, brought together Mohammad Janan, head of the chamber, and a Turkish parliamentary and business delegation to explore opportunities for expanding economic ties and developing joint projects in the agricultural sector.
Discussions focused on enhancing agricultural production through the exchange of expertise and products, supporting local farmers and developing production processes in both countries.
In remarks to SANA, Janan said the two sides discussed organizing field visits to potential joint projects that could support agricultural production and strengthen economic cooperation.
He said the chamber is working to expand export opportunities for Syrian products and reduce production costs to improve the competitiveness of domestic goods in foreign markets.
Janan added that Syrian agricultural products enjoy a strong reputation abroad, expressing hope that increased production and further development of the agricultural sector would contribute to higher export volumes in the coming period.
Members of the Turkish delegation said cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors offers significant opportunities to expand trade and investment partnerships between Syria and Türkiye.
They noted that economic and commercial relations between the two countries continue to develop and said Turkish companies are interested in expanding cooperation with the Syrian market.
Discussions addressed the Syrian market’s demand for high-quality food and agricultural products, as well as preparations for a food and agriculture exhibition expected to be held in Syria in the coming months in cooperation with the chamber.
The two sides also reviewed ways to facilitate trade flows and agricultural exports through coordination with the relevant authorities in both countries.
The talks come as Syria and Türkiye seek to expand economic cooperation and create new opportunities for private-sector partnerships and investment.
