Damascus, June 16 (SANA) Syrian Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Basel Abdul Hannan held talks with a delegation of Egyptian business leaders and investors on Tuesday on opportunities to expand industrial cooperation and launch joint investment projects, including plans for a large-scale industrial zone in Aleppo province.
The meeting, attended by representatives of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, focused on strengthening economic ties between Syria and Egypt and encouraging private-sector participation in development and reconstruction projects.
Officials reviewed a proposal to establish an integrated industrial city in Aleppo covering approximately 2.3 million square meters. The project would include food-processing, pharmaceutical and textile industries, as well as service facilities, training centers and renewable energy components.
Abdul Hannan said the proposed development could help create employment opportunities, support industrial recovery and benefit from Egyptian expertise in industrial investment and infrastructure development. He added that Syrian authorities are working to provide the regulatory framework and investment environment needed to facilitate such projects.
The discussions also addressed plans for specialized industrial zones spanning around 300,000 square meters, aimed at expanding industrial activity and encouraging joint Syrian-Egyptian investments.
Fadel Yacoub, head of the economic and commercial office at the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, said Egyptian investors are interested in participating in development and investment projects in Syria as economic activity continues to recover.
The talks come amid growing efforts by Syria and Egypt to deepen economic cooperation and explore investment opportunities in industry, infrastructure and development projects.
