Damascus, Apr.27 (SANA) Syrian-Jordanian economic relations are moving towards greater integration, driven by growing efforts to enhance Arab economic cooperation, benefiting from geographical proximity and intertwined economic interests, along with increasing measures from both governments and the private sector to advance joint cooperation.
In a statement to SANA, Chairman of the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Alaa al-Ali, affirmed that economic relations between Syria and Jordan are witnessing increasing integration, based on shared geography and markets. This facilitates trade and the exchange of goods and services between the two countries.

Al-Ali pointed out that the harmony between the Syrian and Jordanian markets provides a suitable environment for expanding areas of economic cooperation, particularly in light of government efforts and private sector initiatives that have contributed to developing this cooperation over the past two years.
Investment Partnerships
For his part, Head of Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Muhammad al-Hajj Tawfiq, emphasized in a similar statement the importance of strengthening investment partnerships and supporting industrial integration between the two countries.

Hajj Tawfiq pointed out that the next phase requires moving from meetings to practical implementation, through organizing reciprocal visits of economic delegations and preparing for a joint economic conference that includes businessmen from various sectors, with the aim of exploring investment opportunities and activating cooperation on the ground.
He noted positive developments in the transportation sector between the two countries, in addition to expectations of Jordanian investments in Syria in the coming period, particularly in the areas of food security and food industries, which will enhance shared economic interests and support trade exchange.
From Competition to Synergy
Meanwhile, Head of the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Industry, Mazen Derwan, shed light on the importance of moving from the logic of competition to harmony between industrialists in both countries, in order to achieve balanced common interests.

Derwan stressed the need to work on facilitating the flow of goods between Syria and Jordan in a well-considered manner that ensures the protection of productive sectors, through achieving industrial integration in some areas and avoiding dumping in others, emphasizing that there are real opportunities to build balanced economic partnerships that take into account the specific characteristics of each market.
Earlier, the second session of the Higher Coordination Council between Syria and Jordan was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on April 12, chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, with the participation of 30 ministers from both countries.
