Vienna, April 20 (SANA) Central Bank of Syria Governor Abdulkader Husrieh held talks in Vienna with Austrian National Bank Governor Martin Kocher on restoring financial relations between the two countries and resuming money transfers.
Talks focused on reactivating cross-border payment systems and addressing challenges facing companies seeking to invest in Syria, particularly those related to banking transactions. The two sides also reviewed developments in digital economic transformation and opportunities to enhance financial cooperation.
In separate meetings, Husrieh held talks with several Austrian banks on prospects for banking cooperation following the lifting of sanctions on Syria.
The meetings resulted in an agreement to reopen Syria’s bank account at Raiffeisen Bank International in Austria.
