Tokyo, April 6 (SANA) Oil prices climbed in early Monday trading, with Brent crude exceeding $110 per barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rising above $113, as tensions in the Middle East disrupted global energy supply routes.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude increased by 1.86 percent to $113.62 per barrel, while Brent crude rose by 1.16 percent to $110.30 per barrel, Agence France-Presse reported.

The gains came amid escalating tensions linked to the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route through which about 20 percent of global oil and gas supplies pass.

U.S. President Donald Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday that Washington could take action against Iran’s infrastructure unless the strait is reopened. He wrote: “Tuesday will be the day of power stations and the day of bridges, together in one package, in Iran—there will be nothing like it.”

Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about supply disruptions and contributing to higher global energy prices.
