Berlin, March 14 (SANA) The number of companies declaring bankruptcy in Germany reached its highest level in more than ten years amid ongoing economic difficulties, according to official data.
The Federal Statistical Office of Germany said local courts recorded 24,064 corporate insolvency filings in 2025, marking a 10.3 percent increase compared with 2024.
Bankruptcy filings accelerated toward the end of the year, with December alone recording a 14 percent rise, the office said in a statement.
The figure is the highest since 2014, when 24,085 companies filed for insolvency. During the global financial crisis in 2009, corporate bankruptcies peaked at 32,687 cases.
Data from local courts also showed that creditor claims linked to corporate insolvencies in 2025 totaled about €9.47 billion.
