Deir Ezzor, Feb. 23 (SANA) Syria’s Energy Ministry has begun extensive repair and rehabilitation work on the electricity network in Deir Ezzor and Raqqa provinces, in a bid to restore regular power supply after years of damage caused by war.
In a statement, the ministry said electricity maintenance teams had launched a comprehensive campaign to repair transmission lines and reconnect neighborhoods to the national grid.
In Raqqa province, technical crews have started maintenance work on power lines in the southern Corniche district of Raqqa city, focusing on restoring damaged infrastructure and improving network stability.
Meanwhile, in Deir Ezzor province, teams are carrying out repairs to medium- and low-voltage lines in order to reconnect them to the main substation in the Seven-Kilometer area on the outskirts of the province. The statement said the work aims to gradually restore electricity to residential neighborhoods and support local economic activity.
The repairs are part of a broader plan to rehabilitate the national power network and improve service delivery in areas where infrastructure suffered extensive damage during the war.
Large parts of eastern Syria experienced prolonged power outages over the past decade as transmission lines, substations and supporting infrastructure were damaged or fell out of service.
The government is working to stabilize supply, reduce outages and expand coverage to both household and productive sectors, with further rehabilitation projects planned in the coming months.
