Jeddah, Feb. 10 (SANA) – Syrian Minister of Finance Mohammed Yisr Barnieh held talks with a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on opportunities for cooperation in financing reconstruction projects in Syria.
In a post on his Facebook account on Tuesday, Barnieh said the talks took place on the sidelines of the AlUla Conference on Emerging Market Economies 2026, hosted in AlUla Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Barnieh noted that the discussions focused on mechanisms to support the financing of reconstruction efforts in Syria, particularly through infrastructure projects and partnership models between the public and private sectors.
“We sensed a strong desire on the part of the bank to work in Syria and contribute to reconstruction efforts,” Barnieh said, adding that Syria looks forward to taking the necessary steps to build cooperation and a partnership that serves national needs.
The AlUla Conference concluded its activities after two days of discussions bringing together finance ministers, central bank governors, policymakers, leaders of international institutions, global investors, and experts to address challenges facing emerging market economies.
