Syria opens all museums free of charge Monday to mark International Museum Day

Damascus, May 17 (SANA)    Syria’s Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM) announced that all museums across the country will open their doors free of charge on Monday, May 18, to mark International Museum Day.

The directorate said via its official website that museums will receive visitors during regular opening hours, with the aim of encouraging citizens to visit and engage with Syria’s civilizational and cultural heritage.

It invited the public to visit museums across all governorates and discover their archaeological collections, describing them as a reflection of Syria’s deep history and rich heritage, under the slogan: “Welcome to discover our history and our ancient heritage.”

International Museum Day is observed annually on May 18, with the aim of highlighting the role of museums in preserving human heritage and promoting cultural and historical awareness in communities around the world.
