Tartous, April 13 (SANA) The stage of the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous came alive with music as dozens of young performers, some as young as six, took part in a piano evening titled “Harmony,” highlighting emerging talent in the city’s growing cultural scene.
The event brought together children and youth aged 6 to 21 in a program that moved across musical eras, offering the audience a journey from Baroque compositions to modern pieces. The repertoire included works by Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Turkish March,” Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Für Elise,” and selections from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake,” alongside contemporary compositions by Greek musician Yanni.
For many of the performers, the evening marked a rare opportunity to play before a live audience. Despite their young age, participants demonstrated technical skill and growing artistic confidence, reflecting months of training and preparation.
Rahaf Harfoush, who supervised the performers’ training, said the event was designed not only to showcase talent but also to build confidence among participants. She noted that performing on stage helps young musicians overcome fear and develop a stronger sense of self-expression.
“The experience is essential for nurturing their passion,” Harfoush said, emphasizing the role of such events in supporting artistic development among children and youth.
Participants described the evening as both challenging and rewarding, saying their love for music motivated them to take part. Many highlighted the emotional connection they feel with music, viewing it as a form of expression that shapes both personality and creativity.
The “Harmony” evening is part of a broader series of cultural activities organized in Tartous, where local institutions continue to promote arts and music as part of community life, providing platforms for young talents to develop and engage with audiences.
