Syria marks liberation anniversary with nationwide cultural program

Damascus, Dec. 4 (SANA) The Syrian Ministry of Culture has unveiled an extensive cultural program to commemorate the first anniversary of the country’s liberation and honor the sacrifices of martyrs of the Syrian revolution. The initiative features over 750 events across all provinces, aiming to strengthen national unity, promote social cohesion.

Zuhair al-Barri, the ministry’s events coordinator, told SANA that the program, prepared over the past month, includes poetry evenings, literary seminars, film and theater performances, and national orchestra shows. “The main goal is to offer a spiritual tribute to the martyrs who contributed to this historic victory,” he said.

A special pavilion for children will be set up at the Damascus Exhibition City, complemented by activities in cultural centers nationwide, designed to instill national identity and connect younger generations to the meaning of liberation.

The program is being carried out under the guidance of the Syrian presidency and in coordination with multiple ministries and institutions. “Syrian culture reflects diversity and is a cornerstone for building a secure and stable future,” al-Barri emphasized.

Officials note that these celebrations underscore the role of art, theater, and literature not just as entertainment, but as tools to deepen civic awareness, honor the sacrifices of martyrs, and highlight the resilience of Syrian society in the face of years of conflict.
