Damascus Countryside, SANA- The Syrian artisan, Mazen Shaiban, exhibited a rare artwork, at Damascus International Fair, crafted from 94,000 olive seeds, a project that took over a year of dedicated work.
The artist Shaiban’s piece ‘The Life of Unity’ symbolizes coexistence and cultural continuity.
The artistic pieces reflect Damascus’s diverse historical eras—from Fatimid and Ayyubid to Ottoman and Maghrebi, through detailed scenes of daily life in the city’s houses and markets.
By developing an innovative technique of grinding olive seeds in addition to using date pits, Shaiban created intricate depictions, including Damascene sword, pottery sellers, and even the holy city of Mecca.
He hopes his craft will gain international recognition and support, allowing him to expand this heritage art across Syria as a message of peace, love, and cultural pride.
