Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman stresses need for preserving Syria’s territorial integrity

Tehran, SANA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi stressed the need for preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, expressing hope that stability and calm will prevail all the Syrian territories.

In a press conference held Monday, Qassemi pointed out to the visit of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem to Iran, clarifying that the developments in the region are accelerating and that this visit comes in the context of exchanging view points and consultations with Iran and states of the region to discuss the latest developments of the situation in Syria and the region in the wake of the tripartite meeting held in Moscow last month.

Qassemi pointed out to the positive results of Moscow meeting that comprised Russia, Iran and Turkey and the efforts exerted by those countries for reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria, adding that these efforts are continuous for reaching an ultimate solution to it.

He also expressed hope that suitable circumstances would be created for the upcoming intra-Syrian talks in the Kazakh capital Astana with the aim of reaching positive results.
