Syria calls on UNSC to take punitive, deterrent procedures against countries that support terrorism

Damascus, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed on Monday that the terrorist, bloody explosions which took place today in the Syrian cities of Tartous, Homs, Damascus countryside and Hasaka are a continuation of the systemized terrorism practiced by the terrorist organizations, calling on Security Council to take immediate, punitive and deterrent procedures against the countries that support terrorism.

“A suicidal terrorist exploded his car bomb at Arzounah bridge at the entrance of Tartous city, then another terrorist detonated his explosive belt amid the citizens who have rushed to help the authorities rescue the wounded, claiming the lives of 30 citizens and injuring 43 others,” The Foreign Ministry said in two letters sent to the UN Secretary General and President of Security council.

The Ministry added that another suicidal terrorist detonated his car bomb at the entrance of Tadmur door in Homs, killing 4 citizens and wounding 10 others, meanwhile, two terrorists also detonated themselves through two explosive belts in Damascus countryside, killing one citizen and injuring three others.

The fourth explosion took place in Hasaka when a terrorist exploded his motor bike in Marshou square, claiming the lives of 5 civilians and wounding many others.

“Those terrorist bloody explosions come as a continuation of the systemized terrorism perpetrated by terrorist organizations, like Fatah al-Sham, previously Jabhat al-Nusra, Jaish al-Fatah, Ahrar al-Sham and many others, these organizations which some members states name as –moderate armed groups-away from the spirit of the UN charter and rules,” the Ministry added.

It said that the government of Syrian Arab Republic affirms that those terrorist crimes and massacres will not affect its stance in performing its legal and moral duties in combating terrorism or working to achieve a political solution to the crisis in Syria through a Syrian-Syrian dialogue and under a Syrian leadership, this solution that paves the way for overcoming terrorism and going ahead in reconstructing what has been destroyed by terrorists.

“The Syrian government calls on the UN security Council to immediately condemn the bloody crimes perpetrated by the armed terrorist groups and to assume its responsibility in preserving international peace and security… the Syrian government also calls on Security council to take punitive and deterrent procedures against the countries which support terrorism, particularly Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and France and forcing them to carry out the rules of relevant resolutions No. 2170, 2178, 2199 and 2253,” the letters concluded.
