Army repels terrorist attack on military academies in Aleppo, targets terrorists in other provinces

Provinces, SANA – Military operations against terrorist organizations continued on Friday, with Army and Armed Forces units and the Syrian Air Force targeting terrorists’ positions around the country, leaving many of their members dead and their equipment destroyed, while in Aleppo the army managed to repel a wide-scale attack by terrorists on the military academies area.

Aleppo

Army repels wide-scale terrorist attack on military academies in Aleppo, inflicts heavy losses upon terrorists

A military source said that Army and Armed Forces units operating to the south and southwest of Aleppo, in cooperation with supporting forces, managed to contain the wide-scale attack carried out by terrorist groups on Friday evening in the direction of the military academies, inflicting heavy losses upon the terrorists.

The source asserted that Army and Armed Forces units reinforced their positions in the perimeter of the military academies southwest of Aleppo, targeting terrorist groups with precision strikes, destroying 3 vehicles rigged with explosives, 6 tanks, and a number of vehicles equipped with artillery and machineguns, in addition to eliminating more than 300 terrorists in the farms area south of the military academies.

The source also said that the Syrian Air Force crushed concentrations of terrorists and destroyed scores of their vehicles along with the terrorists on board in the areas between Khan Touman and the military academies, al-Hikma School and the academies, Bazo hill and the academies, al-Zarba and Aleppo city, and Oram al-Kubra and Aleppo city.

In the same context, Director of the Aero-Technical Academy in Aleppo Brig. Gen. Deeb Bazzi confirmed on Friday evening that the terrorist attack carried out by terrorist organizations on the military academies area southwest of Aleppo has been repelled, and that heavy losses have been inflicted on terrorists.

In a phone call with the Syrian TV on Friday evening, Bazzi said that terrorists were driven away from the perimeter of the academies and that they sustained heavy losses, asserting that he is in his office, that the rest of the officers are in their respective positions, and that they are capable of repelling any attack, asserting that the morale of officers, soldiers, and supporting forces are very high.

In a similar call, Director of the Aerial Preparation Academy Brig. General Hamada Murad said that the terrorist attack began at 2:45 PM, with the terrorists using all sorts of weapons including car bombs and rocket launchers.

Murad affirmed readiness to repel terrorists and wage counterattacks, adding “they won’t enter any military unit unless it’s over our dead bodies.”

On a relevant note, SANA reporter in Aleppo asserted earlier that there’s no truth to rumors circulated by some malicious TV channels about terrorists establishing control over the Arming Academy south of Aleppo, and that all these rumors are completely baseless.

Earlier on Friday, the Syrian Air Force launched 23 air strikes on gatherings, sites and vehicle convoys of terrorists in Aleppo countryside, killing tens of terrorists and  destroying several positions, armored cars, vehicles loaded with arms and ammunition and car bombs, according to a military source.

Army units, supported by Syrian Air Force and army’s artillery, thwarted terrorist infiltration attempts on a number of military checkpoints on the axes of the academy to the southwest of Aleppo, killing many terrorists and destroying tens of armored vehicles.

The Syrian Air Force eliminated terrorist groups who were escaping the clashes area to the southwest of Aleppo city.

Daraa

The  source confirmed that two command centers and four vehicles for Jabhat al-Nusra -linked terrorist groups were destroyed during army operations in different areas in Daraa province.

SANA reporter quoted the source as saying that an army unit carried out earlier today an operation targeting terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra in al-Hammadin neighborhood and al-Nazihin camp in Daraa al-Balad area in Daraa city.

The operation resulted in the death of many terrorists and the destruction of two command centers and three vehicles.

The source mentioned that the terrorists Hassan Abazid, a field leader, Ghassan al-Salamat, Tawfiq al-Naasan, Thaer Bajbouj, Abdul-Mun’em Mahamid and Amer Mahmoud al-Zarqali were identified among the dead.

The fourth vehicle was destroyed, along with an artillery position, in an army operation that targeted terrorist groups in the surroundings of al-Ghariyeh al-Gharbiyeh in the northeastern countryside of Daraa province.

According to the source, the vehicle was equipped with a machine gun.

Later, the source said the army units destroyed a cannon position and killed more Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists in Daraa al-Balad and Daraa al-Mahatta.

Quneitra

An army unit in cooperation with the popular defense groups targeted and destroyed Thursday evening a bulldozer for terrorists on al-Hamidiyeh-Jebbata al-Khashab road in the northern countryside of Quneitra province.

According to SANA reporter, the terrorists driving the bulldozer were involved in setting up fortifications when they were hit.

The vehicle was destroyed and all the terrorists at the site were killed or injured.

Other army operations targeted dens and positions for terrorist groups in the vicinity of al-Alam roundabout along the eastern entrance of Quneitra city.

SANA reporter confirmed that the operations left a number of terrorists dead or injured and their weapons and ammunition destroyed.

Deir Ezzor

Army units, in cooperation with popular defense groups, foiled ISIS terrorist attack on a number of military posts in Tal Barok area to the northwest of  Deir Ezzor city, killing more than 150 terrorists and destroying 4 vehicles equipped with 23 mm machineguns.

Idleb

A military source stated that a camp for Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists along with 4 vehicles equipped with machineguns and artillery were destroyed west of Oum Hartain in the southern countryside of Idleb, adding that 28 terrorists were killed as well.

Hama

A military source said that an Army and Armed Forces unit targeted a gathering of terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra terror organization in al-Tamani’a town in Hama’s northern countryside, eliminating 9 terrorists including one of the organization’s leaders who was nicknamed “Abu al-Bara’a al-Chami,”and destroying a number of vehicles equipped with machineguns.
