Tehran, SANA- Iran’s Shura Council Assistant Speaker for international affairs Hussein Amir Abdollahian stressed that the contradicted behavior of the US towards the crisis in Syria aims at destabilizing the region to achieve its own policies, indicating that only the Syrian people should determine the future of their country.
Abdollahian stressed in a statement on Monday that finding a solution to the crisis in Syria is a very important issue for the Russian officials, particularly as they haven’t changed the strategy which they adopt in this regard despite of the huge pressures exerted on them by the US.
He indicated that the Americans, through the discussions with Russia, seek to achieve what they haven’t been able to achieve on the ground.
On the other hand, Abdollahian referred to the current visit of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura to Tehran.
Earlier on Sunday, De Mistura discussed in Tehran with Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari means of pushing forward the political settlement for the crisis in Syria.
