Moscow, SANA- Russian president’s Special Representative for the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov asserted that monitoring the cessation of hostilities in Syria are discussed by Russia and U.S. military.
Commenting on the statements of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry that the U.S. offered Russia setting up a new round-the-clock monitoring system for the cessation of hostilities in Syria , Bogdanov told Interfax on Saturday that “This is a question for the military, they maintain contact and discuss all military issues.”
“A target group that ensures the cessation of hostilities meets in Geneva regularly. This has been discussed regularly and for a long time but simply as an idea, nothing concrete,” he added.
In the same context a source at the Russian Foreign Ministry said Saturday commenting on Kerry’s statements, “Moscow will consider US ideas on how to strengthen the cessation of hostilities in Syria.”
He noted that the Russian and US military are working in constant contact on the Syrian affairs, adding that both countries’ Foreign Ministries were also involved in the dialogue on the issue, including on the top level.
