Lattakia, SANA – The mechanisms of conducting the upcoming commercial operations with Russia, mainly with regard to the project of the Russian Village for exports and imports, were discussed in a meeting between Lattakia Governor and a Russian delegation on Tuesday.
The project, which will be opened in Lattakia on Wednesday, is meant to be a core for enhancing trade exchange between Syria and Russia.
The meeting was held between Head of the Commercial Attache at the Russian Embassy Igor Matveyev, Director-General of the Russian Village company and the accompanying delegation and Lattakia Governor Ibrahim Khodr al-Salem.
The governor stressed the Syrian side’s readiness to provide all the needed facilities to allow any economic process that serves both countries’ interests to succeed.
Al-Salem pointed out that within the new project, Syrian goods will be exported to Russia under the supervision of specialized committees that will be in charge of the entire process all through the way between the farms and the Russian ports.
For his part, the Russian company’s director general highlighted the two sides’ desire to start joint economic action through the new company in Lattakia, noting that this step has been preceded by the exporting of two shipments of Syrian products to Russia, totaling over 400 tons of goods.
He said work will focus on trying to accomplish the shipping process to the Russian ports in less than 8 days, among other details.
