Egyptians begin voting in parliamentary elections

CAIRO, SANA- Egyptians in 14 governorates took part in the first phase of parliamentary elections in the country.

Earlier on Saturday, Egyptians residing abroad began casting votes in the embassies and consulates in 139 countries according to Egypt’s state-run news wire Middle East News Agency (MENA).

The voting will take place over two rounds on Oct 18-19 and Nov 22-23.

All preparations were taken for the start of the voting process at 09:00 o’clock on Sunday, an Egyptian Interior Ministry source told “MENA”.

The first phase of the elections of the Egyptian House of Representatives started in 14 governorates, out of 27 governorates, including about 27 million voters and 103 public committees and 5460 electoral centers.

The House of Representatives will comprise 596 MPs.

The results of the first phase will be announced on October 20 and 21, while the second phase of the elections will start on next November 22 and 23 in 13 governorates which include 28 million voters.
