Damascus, SANA- Minister of Water Resources Dr. Kamal al- Sheikha asserted that his ministry is ready to cooperate with any donor side seeking to provide aid for the sector of sanitation and drinking water and to coordinate with the donor organizations to implement the emergency plan which the ministry is carrying out according to the urgent priorities and needs.
The minister pointed out, during meeting the Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Jan Egeland on Sunday , that the emergency plan , estimated at USD 50 million, contributes to reaching ambulatory solutions for the emergency situations and ensures providing clean water to the citizens.
Al-Sheikha pointed out the diligent work and tireless efforts exerted by the ministry to deliver aid to the affected families in the insecure areas and provide drinking water to all citizens.
He discussed with Egeland the role of the donor organizations in the field of carrying out the necessary projects of water resources sector in addition to means of developing cooperation between the two sides.
Egeland, for his part, affirmed that NRC is willing to work in the relief field in Syria and to help the Syrian people in other fields, on top, the water resources, education, learning, and foodstuffs.
He highlighted the possibility of working within a joint team that includes national and foreign experties.
