Cutting relations with Syria wasn’t right procedure, Tunisian FM

Tunis, SANA – Tunisia’s Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche described cutting diplomatic relation with Syria as a wrong procedure.

Baccouche told journalists on Tuesday that Tunisia’s interests necessitate the presence of a consular representation in Damascus, Reuters quoted.

He added that his country is not with cutting relations with Syria as what happened before, considering that it was not right.

The Tunisian official said that despite the Arab league’s decision, there are nine countries which have a representation in Syria whether at the level of embassy or consulate.

He clarified that a consular representation in Syria serves the interests of the Tunisian community in Syria and Tunisia as well.

Baccouche said that Tunisia has appointed a new consul who would start his task as soon as possible, adding that Tunisians’ interests should be cared about.
