Update1- Russia will continue to provide all possible support to Syria to put an end to terrorism, Lavrov says

Moscow, SANA- “Russia will continue to provide all possible support to the Syrian people to be able to put an end to terrorism,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Monday, expressing his country’s solidarity with the struggle of the Syrian people against the terrorist organizations.

Meeting Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem in Moscow, Lavrov indicated that all countries including the US agree that there is no solution to the crisis in Syria except the political solution, saying “Today when terrorism threatens the Middle East as a whole, there shouldn’t be any justifications to prolong the political process.”

He called upon all the Syrian parties to implement what had been agreed upon in Moscow consultative meetings with regard to the political solution in Syria.

For his part, al-Moallem said Syria believes that Russia’s relations with it are honest and thanks it for its help, adding “We came to implement the directives of the Syrian and Russian leaderships to find the political solution in Syria.”

He indicated that the field situation in southern Syria and in Hasaka province is “reassuring” , thanks to the standing of the Syrian people side by side with their army.

He reiterated that the US is adopting a double standard policy towards Syria.

Earlier on Sunday, al-Moallem started a three-day visit to Russia to discuss the situation in Syria and to resume the political process to solve the crisis in the country, in addition to discussing the bilateral relations.
