The centennial anniversary of the Armenian genocide… Armenian officials voice solidarity with Syria in facing terrorism

Yerevan, SANA- Speaker of the people’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham met Levan Sargsyan, Armenian Ambassador of Special missions, special envoy of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, accompanied with a number of Members of the Armenian National Assembly (ANA) and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Manasaryan.

Laham, who met the Armenian President Sargsyan and other senior officials earlier Wednesday, chairs a parliamentary delegation to a political forum on combating the crime of genocide on the centennial anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

“Armenian government and people keep close eye on the latest developments and events in Syria”, ambassador Sargsyan said, expressing confidence in Syrian peoples’ will to defeat terrorism.

They expressed determination to continue their efforts on all parliamentary, regional and international levels to divulge the international involvement in supporting terrorism in Syria and unveiling the reality of the terrorists who are perpetrating the ugliest barbaric acts of killing and intimidation against the Syrian people.

The Assembly’s members also condemned Turkey’s flagrant interference in Syria’s internal affairs through embracing the terrorists, facilitating their passing across its borders and offering all possible support to them.

They touched upon the necessity of putting pressures on the countries which are involved in supporting terrorism to stop violating the international law, norms and charters.

The International Forum ‘Against the Crime of Genocide’, organized by Armenia in commemoration of the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, was opened at Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex.

The Forum has brought together parliamentary and governmental delegations from various countries across the world.

The participants expressed rejection of the crime against humanity committed by the Ottoman Empire against the innocent Armenian people in 1915, killing more than 1.5 million and displacing 1.5 million others.
