Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch condemns bombing of St. Elias Church, Damascus

Damascus, SANA-The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East has strongly condemned the terrorist bombing of St. Elias Church in Dweilaa neighborhood, Damascus, calling for the protection of all citizens.

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch said in a statement “The treacherous hand of evil struck Sunday evening, claiming the innocents’ lives who fell as martyrs during the evening divine liturgy at Church of Prophet Elias in Dweilaa, Damascus.”

The statement added: “We lift prayers for the souls of martyrs, for healing the wounded, and consoling the grieving faithful”, as he also affirmed steadfast commitment to rejecting all fear and intimidation.”
