Damascus, SANA-Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed al-Saleh, revealed that due to the high temperatures in recent days, the frequency of fires has significantly increased in forests and wooded areas, particularly on the coast and the western Idlib countryside.
He indicated that the ministry has developed a proactive plan to deal with fires and reduce their risks and impact on vegetations.
Al-Saleh said in a post on the X platform on Thursday: “Civil Defense firefighting teams and other teams responded to more than 60 fires in the past 48 hours, and operations are still ongoing to control two fires, the largest of which broke out in the village of al-Qutilabiyah in Latakia countryside, and the village of Azar in the western Idlib countryside.”
