Japan considers lifting sanctions on Syria

Tokyo, SANA-The Japanese government announced that it has begun considering lifting sanctions on Syria following US President Donald Trump’s announcement.

The Japanese Asahi newspaper quoted Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya as saying at a press conference Friday: “We will closely monitor discussions in the international community and make an appropriate decision regarding lifting sanctions on Syria.”.

“The government will lift sanctions on Syria by the end of May, in line with the United States and the European Union.” The Japanese Economic Daily affirmed.
