1920 – 1st assembly of the League of Nations (Paris).

1943- Iraqi government declares war on the Axis powers and stands by the Allied forces in the framework of the World War II.

1979 – A magnitude 7.6 earthquake hit Iran killing at least 200 people.

1992- Mohamed Boudiaf becomes Algeria’s President .

2001 – Congolese President Laurent-Desire Kabila is assassinated by one of his own bodyguards.

2006 –  Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is sworn in as Liberia’s new president. She becomes Africa’s first female elected head of state.
