Damascus, SANA – People’s Assembly, chaired by Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh, discussed during a session held on Monday the performance of Interior Ministry and other issues related to its work.
Speaking at the outset of the session, Sabbagh underlined the key role of interior security forces side by side with the Syrian army to defend the homeland’s security and stability against the takfiri obscurant terrorism which targets Syria and its people.
He stressed the need to exert more efforts to provide all requirements needed to ensure citizens’ safety.
Answering MPs’ inquires, Interior Minister Mohammad al-Shaar highlighted the ministry’s intense efforts to perform its duties to the best of its abilities, topped by standing by the Syrian Arab army in its war against terrorism, preserving citizens’ steadfastness and protecting public and private properties.
Al-Shaar said that counternarcotic program is key to the ministry’s main tasks due to the grave danger the drugs pose on the new generation of youth, indicating to the large number of cross-border drug smuggling operations that have been foiled.
