Kazakh Foreign Ministry: Active and intense consultations for setting a deadline for the upcoming Astana meeting

Astana, SANA – Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said that the Russian partners informed the Kazakh Foreign Ministry that there are primary plans for holding the upcoming Astana Meeting on Syria on June 12-13 .

TASS News Agency quoted Abdrakhmanov as saying that the three guarantor states- Russia, Iran and Turkey- are holding active and intense consultations to finally set the dates of the upcoming Astana meeting.

He pointed out that the participating parties will discuss the implementation of the de-escalation zone memorandum, adding it is essential that the guarantor states ensure the preservation of the positive tendencies which “we see now on the Syrian territories.”

On Saturday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said that a new round of Astana talks on Syria will be held on June 12-13.
