Decree Granting Extra Exam Session and Time for MA and PhD Students of 2011

Dec 08, 2011

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday issued Decree No. 477 for 2011 on granting MA students in the course stage, who failed or exhausted chances of success in the exams of 2010-2011study year, one additional examination session during 2011-2012 study year.

The decree also provides for granting one additional year for MA and PhD students in the dissertation stage, who are in their last year starting of March 1st, 2011 after extension and suspension.

Minister of Higher Education, Abdul-Razzaq Sheikh Issa told SANA that the decree comes in line with the desires of the postgraduates due to the circumstances which Syria has witnessed during this year as  some of them have not been able to do the exams.

He added that the post-graduate level has not been covered by such decree since it was opened at the Syrian universities, adding that more than 7,000  MA and PhD students are excepted to benefit from this decree.
