DAMASCUS, (SANA)- The Health Ministry said it will provide all required facilitations for the Russian side to register the pharmaceutical companies and brand their products to be imported to Syria so that they can enter the Syrian market easily.
Receiving a delegation of the Russian Severo-Zapad Pharmaceutical Holding Company, Health Minister, Dr. Wael al-Halqi, presented a review of the pharmaceutical situation in Syria and the self-reliance principle adopted by the Ministry in its efforts to meet the local market needs of drugs through integrated work between the public and private sectors.
The Minister noted that the nationally-produced drugs currently meet about 93 % of the local market needs and are being exported to a number of countries in the world, adding that Syria imports its needs of qualitative drugs, such as drugs for treating chronic diseases, from abroad.
For his part, Director General of Severo-Zapad Holding expressed the company's desire to enter the Syrian market and meet its demands of the drugs produced in Russia, as well as to open new cooperation prospects in the pharmaceutical field.
The Russian delegation was introduced during the visit to the Syrian needs of drugs and the registration mechanisms, in addition to the types of pharmaceutical products made in Syria.
