Terrorist Groups Set Ablaze Three More Oil Wells in Deir Ezzor

Mar 31, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- Armed terrorist groups set ablaze three oil wells in the province of Deir Ezzor following a dispute over sharing stolen oil amounts, causing a daily loss of 4,670 barrels of oil and 52,000 square meter of gas.

An official source at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources told SANA that the terrorist groups have been attacking oil fields in Deir Ezzor to steal oil and sell it.

He added that terrorists recently randomly opened oil wells and disputed over dividing the stolen oil, which led to them setting the wells on fire.

The source stressed that the Furat Oil Company is working to fix the situation and put out the oil well fires, noting that the number of wells set ablaze by the terrorists have so far reached 9 wells.

The source said that six of these wells were already put out while the other three are still ablaze.
