DAMASCUS, (SANA) – The Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, led by the British conductor Howard Williams, will perform a musical evening titled 'British Landscapes' at Dar al-Assad Opera Theatre on Thursday.
Several melodies are due to be played during the event, including ' Fountains of Rome' by Ottorino Respighi, 'Four Sea Interludes' by Benjamin Britten, 'Fantasia on Greensleeves' by Ralph Vaughan Williams and 'Enigma variation' by Edward Elgar.
Howard Williams conducted the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic as well as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. He was appointed in 1989 as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Pecs Symphony Orchestra in Hungary.
Howard Williams studied music at Oxford and Liverpool Universities as well as joining the Advanced Conducting course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
Williams is considered as one of Britain’s most experienced conductors, with over 70 opera titles to his credit and a large symphonic repertoire.
