Damascus, (SANA) – Rawafed Project, the cultural project of the Syria Trust for Development, launched on Monday the trial session of the Cultural Projects Incubator for 2010-2011, announcing that applications for this initiative will be accepted from March 1 to April 15, 2010.
In a press conference, director of the project Rana Yazeji said the Cultural Projects Incubator aims at empowering artists and people working in the cultural field by supporting socially-conscious cultural and creative initiatives, motivating the transformation of cultural projects into independent institutions, and helping to create an environment that supports cultural and artistic work in Syria.
Yazeji said the Incubator adopts collective work projects, interaction between cultural projects and society, and sustainable long-term cultural projects that can be developed independently and can create opportunities for dialogue in the social environment surrounding the project.
She noted that the accepted projects must be related to local communities, provide job opportunities for young artists, technicians and directors, stimulate creativity and innovation, and be applicable in various environments.
The Syria Trust for Development established Rawafed Project in 2007 to help bolster the development process in the cultural sector by increasing awareness of cultural development issues, building the capabilities of creative people, and finding and specifying cultural resources to revitalize the process of social development and guarantee its sustainability.
