Istanbul, (SANA)- The Syrian-Turkish Partnership Council discussed during its meetings in Istanbul on Thursday the issues of investment, commercial and economic cooperation between Syria and Turkey.
Both the Syrian delegation headed by Economy and Trade Minister, Amer Hosni Lutfi, and Turkish delegation headed by Minister of State for Foreign Trade Zafer Caglayan, discussed the industrial cooperation, in general and cooperation in planning, transport, gas, and electric energy fields in addition to the issues pertaining to the Turkish companies working in Syria.
Turkish Minister, Caglayan, said in a statement before the meeting, that the volume of trade exchange between Syria and Turkey was $ 2 billion, adding that the two countries wish to raise it to $ 5 billion during the next three years and to $ 10 billion during a short time.
He added that the Syrian-Turkish relations reached a very important level since both sides are working for economic incorporation and preparing a new strategy to establish one economic area in the region.
Caglayan referred to the possibility of the Turkish entrepreneurs and investors to participate in the investment in Syria which has big potentials in the infrastructural and structural sectors.
