DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Directorate of Commercial and Industrial Property Protection (DCIP) completed the translation of the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks from English into Arabic as to prove the ability of exchanging services with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) instead of being a receiver of help and expertise.
DCIP Director, Jamil Asaad said that the directorate finished translating the agreement before signing the cooperation agreement with the WIPO because of current circumstances.
He added that a highly-qualified national work team carried out the mission with high professionalism to provide an accurate translation that will be useful for all Arab countries as it will be officially adopted by the WIPO.
Asaad noted that it took 9 months to complete the final edition.
He added that the Directorate intended to sign three new projects with the WIPO to establish an academy for Intellectual Property in Syria and a center for technology and innovation, in addition to signing the agreement of translating the Nice agreement for Classification of Goods and Services into Arabic.
