Abbas: those who entered Palestinian camps to fight are betrayers of Palestinian Cause

Jan 11, 2014

West Bank, (SANA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, stressed that the armed men who entered the Palestinian camps to fight in them are betrayers of the Palestinian Cause and people.

Meeting a popular delegation from al-Quds in Ramallah, Abbas said, "The issue of Yarmouk Camp in Damascus is obvious, and there are those who call themselves "resistance", but what resistance! And who are they fighting?... if the Palestinians want to fight, it is well-known who they should fight, not in Yarmouk camp."

He added that those who entered the camps are betrayers of the Palestinian Cause and people.

Palestinian Minister of Labor, ahmad Abdul-Salam al-Majdalani, stressed during a meeting with Syrian Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, that the entry of gunmen into the Palestinian camps and their prevention of the delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilians are the causes of the suffering of the camps.

General Authority for Palestine Arab Refugees calls on UN to urge backers of terrorist groups to get out of Yarmouk Camp

Director of the General Authority for Palestine Arab Refugees, Ali Mustafa, stressed that the entry of gunmen into Yarmouk Camp and a number of other camps and the displacement of their residents are a new catastrophe that work must be done to end it with no preconditions.

In a letter, Mustafa called on Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Filippo Grandi, to urge the UN Secretary-General to contact the countries and parties which are supporting the armed groups to force them to leave the Yarmouk Camp and facilitate the return of the Palestinian refugees and Syrians who are the residents of the camp in consistence with the repeated initiatives of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the 14 Palestinian factions which were facilitated by the Syrian government.

He pointed out that the suffering of the Palestinian refugees in Syria whose houses were destroyed and who were killed in some camps, including the Yarmouk camp, on the hands of the armed terrorist groups is still going on as these groups are preventing the entry of food and medical convoys into the camp.

He added that Syria had stressed since the beginning of the crisis on the necessity of alienating the camps and preventing the involvement of the Palestinian people so that their main goal remains focused on the Palestinian Cause and the restoration of their usurped rights.
