Lavrov: Statements on Syrian Forces' Responsibility for Aleppo Terrorist Attack Repulsive

Jan 17, 2013

DUSHANBE, (SANA)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov strongly criticized the statements on the responsibility of the Syrian government forces for the terrorist attack which targeted Aleppo University on Tuesday, describing them as "repulsive and unscrupulous".

In a press conference in Dushanbe, the Tajik capital, on Thursday, Lavrov said " I saw on CNN that they say that the Syrian government forces are the ones which committed this terrorist act in Aleppo. I can not imagine a more repulsive and unscrupulous talk than that."

Responding to a question on the possibility that the difference in interpreting the events in Aleppo could affect the Russian-US relations, Lavrov said "I can not understand how a terrorist act could be a pretext for differences," reminding that heads of many countries and the UN described the events in Aleppo as a terrorist act.
