PARIS, (SANA) – UN Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi said that he will seek immediate clarification regarding the support the UN can provide him in his mission in Syria.
He said that when he reaches New York, he will inquire about methods of organization, the type of plan that can be implemented, and the type of support he will receive for his mission, noting that the problems which faced Kofi Annan caused him to pause and consider.
Brahimi said that his mission is reliant on receiving support from the UN which is divided, adding that he will be meeting with the Syrian leadership and opposition as soon as possible.
He concluded by saying that "Syrians are the ones who make war or peace, nobody else… I will be there to try and help them to the extent that they are prepared to accept our help."
