MOSCOW, (SANA) – Russia stressed on Monday the importance of resuming the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS), pointing out that the Russian UN Security Council draft resolution on the crisis in Syria is aimed at resuming the work of the UNSMIS.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that a phone call was established between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon during which they exchanged views on the situation in Syria in light of the ongoing negotiations in the UN Security Council to resume the work of the UNSMIS.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that Lavrov stressed the importance of focusing all efforts to halt violence from any side and conducting a political process in Syria based on Geneva agreements.
