TEHRAN, (SANA)- Iranian Shura Council's Vice Speaker, Mohammad Hassan Abu Turabi Fard, on Tuesday denounced the misleading media campaigns targeting Syria and the attempts at foreign interference in its internal affairs.
In his speech at the meeting of the Permanent Committee for Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), Abu Turabi condemned also sending aid and weapons to the armed terrorist groups to kill the innocents and disrupt stability and security in Syria.
He highlighted the need for taking common stances to face the common challenges, condemning the continued terrorism of the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people and its sabotage acts inflicted against the cultural and religious places in Palestine.
He placed particular focus on the issues of guaranteeing women's rights, drugs trafficking, poverty elimination and enhancing the scientific and cultural sector in the Asian countries.
The Syrian parliamentary delegation to the meeting stressed the necessity of activating the role of the APA to boost the common parliamentary work and consultation given the common denominators among the Asian parliaments and the various potentials available in the Asian continent.
The APA conference was scheduled to be held in Syria, who is presiding over the APA since December 2011, but that was not possible under the current circumstances, the delegation's members pointed out.
They made it clear to the attendees that Syria is facing a conspiracy due to its support to resistance hatched by the Western countries, the US, and the Zionist entity and their allies in the region that included misleading and falsification media campaigns and various economic, political and media pressures, in addition to providing support to terrorist groups who are killing innocent Syrians and vandalizing public and private properties.
Touching upon the issues raised at the meeting's agenda, the Syrian delegation members referred to the problem of drugs in Syria being a transit, but not a producing or consuming, country for drug trafficking, highlighting the cultural diversity in Syria, the special position of women in it and the great attention given to workers in the country and their rights as well as those of the Palestinians who are being treated equally as the Syrians.
