TEHRAN, (SANA)_ Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdel-Lahian said that Iran cannot work contrary to the will of the Syrian people and government, renewing rejection of repeating the Libyan scenario.
In a statement on Saturday, Abdel-Lahian said Iran considers that the success of any conference on Syria hinges on a real participation by the government and the influential parties in the Syrian arena, adding that Iran welcomes any conference if it realizes its goals in helping the Syrian people.
Abdel-Lahian criticized foreign interference in the Syrian internal affairs, adding ''We have declared support to the Syrian people and President Bashar al-Assad's reforms and Annan's efforts, and stressed the importance of stopping the flow of weapons to Syria .''
