MOSCOW, (SANA)_Russia stressed that implementing the ceasefire agreement in Syria is underway, although incompletely, pointing out that the level of violence has dropped in the country.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a press conference in Moscow on Friday that the overall situation in Syria has generally improved despite violations of the ceasefire on both sides.
He stressed that Moscow disagrees with the immoderate criticism in evaluating the situation in Syria which spells doom for the political settlement there.
He added that the parliamentary elections in Syria highlight the Syrian authorities' desire to end violence, adding that the Syrian authorities intend to exert all efforts for achieving peace.
Lukashevich said that Russia intends to follow the elections in Syria, and saw that hindrances are likely due to the flashpoints of tension.
