NEW YORK, (SANA) – The UN Security Council (UNSC) started on Thursday studying recommendations of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon on expanding the international observer mission in Syria.
AFP reported the assistant of the UN envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, Jean-Marie Guehenno as saying that she would submit during the meeting clarifications for the representatives of the 15-member states at the Security Council.
in a statement after a closed UNSC meeting on Syria, Russian representative to the Security Council, Vitaly Churkin, stressed the necessity of providing all measures required for the work of international observers in Syria, highlighting Russia's readiness to hold consultations with all sides of the crisis in Syria.
He added that the UNSC may adopt a new resolution on Syria soon.
