Istanbul, (SANA)_ The Syrian delegation, headed by Minister of Irrigation Nader al-Bunni, and the Iranian delegation, headed by Minister of Energy Parviz Fattah discussed Saturday means of joint cooperation between the two countries regarding water.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the Fifth International Water Forum currently held in Istanbul, both sides called for enhancing relations through reciprocal visits of concerned delegations and exchanging information, as well as making use of each other's technologies.
The Fifth International Water Forum continued its activities for the sixth day during which an Istanbul Water Agreement was signed by 52 mayors.
This agreement calls on mayors and local officials to use water resources by a joint commitment. Later, this agreement, which aims at transferring the water issue from local to universal, was presented to the ministerial conference where it was endorsed.
A large number of bilateral and round table meetings were held within the framework of the Forum. Those meetings discussed mainly 8 issues concerning water.
14 international organizations and ministers from 155 countries are participating in the ministerial conference. The Forum is to end on Sunday by issuing a final statement on the activities of the forum.
