Premier: Mobilizing national resources to confront any contingency

Aug 29, 2013

Damascus, (SANA) _Premier Dr. Wael al-Halqi said the current conditions require that all governmental bodies mobilize national resources and scale up their emergency preparedness to confront any contingency and foil the enemies who are betting on creating disorder and confusion in the work of state service institutions.

Al-Halqi was speaking during a qualitative meeting of the Services Committee to discuss the preparedness plans in all governmental bodies to cope with the current conditions, through finding common denominators between the rescue systems and providing oil products.

Al-Halqi added that the coming challenges necessitate that ''we offer logistical support to our brave army and enhance our people's capacity to remain steadfast, '' vowing that any sabotage attempt of the enemies against Syria will be thwarted.

The Syrians are accustomed to confront all challenges, al-Halqi affirmed, indicationg that the government is working hard to provide all foodstuffs, medical equipment and services.

''There is a strategic stockpile of goods, and the bakeries continue to work around the clock to meet the citizens' needs,'' al-Halqi pointed out.

Syria has been facing a global war of various military, media, economic and intelligence dimensions that seek to destroy infrastructure and national economy and destabilize Syria, Premier al-Halqi added.

Al-Halqi indicated that ''Syria's enemies are escalating the media war and speaking of an imminent war against Syria to strike fear in the hearts of the Syrian people, confound the state and foment chaos.''

He affirmed that the Syrians are well aware of the nature of this war and "threats will make them even more determined and ready for confrontation."

Al-Halqi: Strategic reserve good and sufficient

Later, al-Halqi chaired a meeting for the Economic Committee, affirming that the economic situation is good and the strategic reserve is satisfying.

He called on members of the committee for a serious work to increase those reserves and make the plots of Syria’s enemies a failure.

Al-Halqi added that the country is passing through conditions which required raising the state of readiness of all developmental and economic sectors.

He affirmed that hardworking during the years of the crisis led to spare strategic reserve which will be sufficient for more than a year.
