Foreign Ministry Advises Citizens against Travelling to Turkey

Jun 02, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA)_An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry advised the Syrian citizens against travelling to Turkey during this period.

The official source said in a statement on Sunday that ''the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry advises the Syrian citizens against traveling to Turkey during this period for fear for their safety, due to the security conditions in some Turkish cities that have deteriorated over the past days and the violence practiced by Erdogan's government against peaceful protesters.''

Popular protests against the policies of the Turkish government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan continue for the third day in a row in Ankara, Istanbul and other areas, demanding the Turkish government's resignation and Erdogan's departure.

The Turkish police has responded to the peaceful protest by using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters in Istanbul and the capital Ankara, in addition to several other areas.
