Jan 30, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Head of the the National Reconciliation Committee at the People's Assembly, Omar Ossi, said that the consequences of the current crisis in Syria requires activating the committee's role on the ground.

Ossi was speaking during the committee's meeting on Wednesday, attended by the Speaker of the People's Assembly, Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, to discuss the committee's role in implementing the political program to solve the crisis in Syria.

Ossi said that the committee will cooperate with all official and popular reconciliation committees over Syria, reviewing the plan set up by the committee in cooperation with the National Security Council at the People's Assembly to implement the political program.

According to Ossi, the plan provides for inviting popular and parliamentarian delegations to visit Syria in order to explain to them the conspiracy hatched against the country's security and stability.

The plan also stipulates for sending parliamentary delegations to the friendly countries and communicating with neutral parliamentarian blocs and those which support Syria to clarify the reality of what is taking place in Syria.

Ossi noted that the national reconciliation committees will work on spreading the culture of citizenship and co-existence through holding symposiums aired by media outlets or hosted by cultural centers in all provinces.

He stressed the importance of communication and coordination with the executive authorities in the provinces to contribute to reducing the suffering of citizens, combating corruption and helping in releasing the kidnapped and those who did not get involved in shedding the Syrian blood.

Ossi added that members of the People's Assembly will pay filed visits to all Syrian provinces and meet the political and social figures there to listen to their viewpoints and proposals to get out of the crisis and ensure active participation to hold the coming national dialogue conference as a way out of the crisis in Syria.
